WANTED: Photo, La Banda Rossa, Utica, New York. Circa 1920My great-grandfather
was a percussionist in La Banda Rossa (The Red Band), which was comprised of Italian immigrants in the upstate New York city of Utica. The band was founded around 1905 and continues to the present day. I own an
original photo postcard of this band, which I have dated to around 1922. This is shown immediately below -- my great-grandfather is in the lower right corner with his arms crossed. |

Imagine my surprise when a routine Google search turned up a SECOND photograph taken at the same studio session, on a British brass band
website! What are the odds? Look at this second photo, and note the differences from the first. The scan was, unfortunately, low resolution -- but even so, I believe the original in this case was
larger than my photo postcard. Note, for example, the tile floor detail in the second. |

The webmaster has no idea who sent him the scan. I am extremely interested in finding and purchasing this other original. If unwilling to
sell, my second option would be to obtain its loan so that I can do an extremely high resolution scan of it for optimal reproduction (much better than can be done on typical home scanners). If you own this photo,
please contact me. |
